Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park (広島 平和 記念 公園, Hiroshima Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is a memorial park in downtown Hiroshima, Japan. It is dedicated to the legacy of Hiroshima as the first city in the world to suffer a nuclear attack and to the memories of the direct and indirect victims of the bomb (who may have numbered as many as 140,000). The Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima is visited by more than a million people every year. The park is located in memory of the victims of the nuclear attack on the 6th. August 1945 in which the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park was planned and designed by Japanese architect Kenzō Tange at Tange Lab.
