Tembe Elephant Park, Emangusi, South Africa
Located in an area that was once the ancient ‘Ivory Road’ that linked Mozambique and Zululand, Tembe Elephant Park is famous for having the largest elephants in Africa – and on the planet! The park is remote, lying deep in the sandy forests and swamps of northern Tongaland, right on the border between KwaZulu-Natal and Mozambique.
In addition to seeing these gentle giants, you can also spot the rest of the Big Five – lion, leopard, black and white rhinoceros and buffalo. There is also the smallest antelope, the suni, and a spectacular variety of animals and over 340 species of birds. The park mainly consists of closed forest, but offers a great variety of vegetation, which lies in the transition zone between tropical and subtropical forms.
The camera is located in a hiding place on one of the watercourses in the area.
